President’s Desk…

The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today”

Since last month mercury is rising in our city. Newer ideas are flowing the veins and arteries of our branch and it has been a great pleasure to present them before you during this year.

After starting new year in March, could not realize only how one month have passed so fast.                                We had good academic activities in April despite of examinations and vacations. We celebrated                 WHO Day on 9th April, Sunday. With help of Dr. Yusuf Matcheswalla, Dr Akil Contractor                               had oraganised nice symposium on Depression Let’s Talk. Dr Vijay Joshi has given very good support for this event.  All the delegates appreciated the views of all the stalwart speakers.

The Certificate course in respiratory medicine was first time conducted in our branch on Sunday,                    23rd April 2017.  It was a grand success. The initiative of this course was taken by Myself,  Dr Contractor and Dr Salil Bendre. Almost all the stalwarts of Chest Medicine were invited. The key note address by             Dr Udwadia on “Management of Pneumonias” was really outstanding. All the speakers were excellent     in their talk and gave a very useful information regarding Clinical Practice. Many important topics were covered satisfactorily. Many post graduate residents of different hospitals and colleges have attended this course and were very happy with the content. 262 delegates attended the course and response was overwhelming. Thanks to Hon Secretary, Dr Saurabh Sanjanwala, Dr Salil Bendre, Dr Shobha Ahuja,              Dr Rashmkanti Sanghvi and Dr Subash Gajria for their excellent contribution and support.

A very unique progrmme was conducted first time in IMA Mumbai West on Saturday, 22nd April for children with special needs. The percentage of children with special needs is increasing rapidly. But the proper guidance is not easily available. So, keeping this aim in the mind, I thought of arranging                      this programme through our branch, A Seminar  for the parents & teachers of differently able children. More than 300 parents of such children & teachers of special school attended the programme.                      Dr. Manoj Bhatawadekar – Renowned Psychiatrist, Dr. Anuradha Sovani, Head Dept. of Psychology SNDT, Dr. Sameer Dalwai – Developmental Pediatrician, Dr. Anjali Joshi – A Senior Occupational Therapist gave very good guidance & useful information for them. The response was really overwhelming and was la grand success. All the parents & teachers were thankful towards IMA – Mumbai West gesture. I give special thanks to all the speakers, principals of all special schools for their good help & support. I also thank Dr Contractor and my all office bearers for helping me in this event.  The news of this programme came in Loksatta, Marathi news paper on  Thursday,    27th April 2017.

In the month of May we are presenting World Asthma Day on Tuesday, 3rd May 2017 and CME                   on Industrial Health  on Sunday, 14th May will have good input to our  members. IPL Final will be                  shown Live on Sunday, 21st  May at our premises, organised by Dr Mehul Bhatt & Dr. Ramnik Chavan.                  I am also  planning to have Anti Tobacco Day in Public Forum at various places. The details will be given in the image. We are also planning in future good and different cultural events, music programmes, movie club etc. I am sure Dr Rohini Badwe, Dr Bhavna Patel, Dr Mehul Bhatt and Dr Ramnik Chavan  will do excellent job as before.

Regarding the issue of generic drug prescription declared by MCI, there are many queries and confusions in the matter. Certain things need definite clarification. For this IMA-HQ has properly written a letter to the Prime Minister and the concerned authorities. The details of IMA demands for this issue are given in the image. We hope some clarity on this in near future.

I wish all of you safe and happy vacation in this coming month.

Long Live IMA

Dr Sanjay Dudhat
